99.999%+ Pathogen Reduction¹

A Patented Device for Automated Stethoscope Disinfection

Scientific literature has found that stethoscopes harbor contamination comparable to unwashed hands, while relevant guidelines recommend disinfection of stethoscopes between patient encounters.

Oeuvre is a patented device designed to accomplish this without disrupting patient care or facility workflow.

Disinfection Designed for the Clinical Workflow

Using 44 precisely positioned UVC LEDs, Oeuvre performs an automated 60-second disinfection cycle within a highly reflective chamber. Independent laboratory testing of an Oeuvre prototype demonstrated greater than 99.999% pathogen reduction of antibiotic-resistant organisms on critical stethoscope surfaces under the conditions studied, with similar results obtained on cellphone surfaces.¹

Oeuvre reflects an infection-control approach centered on automated, consistent intervention rather than relying solely on manual diligence at the moment of care. By addressing one specific pathway through which contaminated equipment moves between patient encounters, Oeuvre is designed to take its place alongside the other specific interventions that collectively support infection prevention.²

The Problem

The Stethoscope Visits Nearly Every Patient. So Does Its Contamination.

The stethoscope moves from patient to patient throughout the clinical environment. Studies have found it contaminated most of the time it is used, with pooled estimates across the literature placing contamination at approximately 85%

Pathogens documented on stethoscopes include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales, multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and resistant strains of Escherichia coli

The challenge is not simply recognizing the need for stethoscope hygiene. It is achieving it consistently between patient encounters.

The Solution

One Minute. One Automated Cycle.

OeUVre uses 44 precisely positioned UVC LEDs within a highly reflective cylindrical disinfection chamber. Its compact footprint, intuitive operation, and sophisticated design allow it to integrate seamlessly into hospitals, private practices, clinics, and specialty medical facilities.

After the stethoscope is placed into its hanger bracket and the chamber door is closed, a 60-second disinfection cycle begins automatically. During the cycle, the LEDs emit UVC light within a wavelength range of 260–270 nanometers

At the conclusion of the cycle, a green indicator light alerts the clinician that the stethoscope may be retrieved. The routine is designed to allow stethoscope disinfection to occur while the clinician performs customary hand hygiene.³

EFFICACY

Independently Studied. Measurable Results.

An independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory studied the efficacy of an Oeuvre prototype against drug-resistant bacterial pathogens in the presence of an organic load.³

Testing demonstrated greater than 99.999% pathogen reduction of antibiotic-resistant organisms on critical stethoscope surfaces under the conditions studied. Oeuvre achieved nearly a log 6 reduction on critical surfaces, compared with the log 3 reduction identified in the supplied literature as the standard for low-level stethoscope disinfection.³

Similar results were obtained on cellphone surfaces.³
